The ππ scattering amplitude in chiral perturbation theory

We discuss ππ scattering in the framework of chiral perturbation theory. In particular, we recall the predictions [1] for the threshold parameters and for the phase shift difference δ 0 − δ 1 1 . 1 Notation The scattering amplitude for ππ scattering, π(p1)π (p2) → π (p3)π (p4) , reads 〈π(p4)π (p3)out|π (p1)π (p2)in〉 = 〈π (p4)π (p3)in|π (p1)π (p2)in〉 + i(2π)δ(Pf − Pi)T (s, t, u) , where T (s, t,...

π+π− Atom in Chiral Perturbation Theory

Hadronic π+π− atom is studied in the relativistic perturbative approach based on the Bethe-Salpeter equation. The general expression for the atom lifetime is derived. Lowest-order corrections to the relativistic Deser-type formula for the atom lifetime are evaluated within the Chiral Perturbation Theory. ππ scattering, pion form factors and chiral perturbation theory

I discuss recent progress in our understanding of the ππ scattering amplitude at low energy thanks to the combined use of chiral perturbation theory and dispersion relations. I also comment on the criticism raised by Peláez and Ynduráin on this work.

K → ππ Decays in SU ( 2 ) Chiral Perturbation Theory

We study the decays K → ππ in one-loop two-flavour Chiral Perturbation Theory. We provide arguments why the calculation of the coefficient of the pionic chiral logarithm ℓ M = M 2 log M 2 is unique and then perform the calculation. As a check we perform the reduction of the known three-flavour result. Our result can be used to perform the extrapolation to the physical pion mass of direct lattic...

Semiclassical perturbation theory for diffraction in heavy atom surface scattering.

The semiclassical perturbation theory formalism of Hubbard and Miller [J. Chem. Phys. 78, 1801 (1983)] for atom surface scattering is used to explore the possibility of observation of heavy atom diffractive scattering. In the limit of vanishing ℏ the semiclassical theory is shown to reduce to the classical perturbation theory. The quantum diffraction pattern is sensitive to the characteristics ...
